some questions regarding affiliateprograms

from a business project I have one domain left which generates a lot of traffic without advertising it, this is due to the reason that last year a tv station with the same name went into business and many people assume that they have both possible dot.com addresses. now i thought this circumstance would be ideal to start into some of these nice affiliate programs...however, i am brand new to this and don't know how to get started really. how does it work with content, do i have to buy content for it or where do you get content for sites intended to just transport people to affiliate paysites. or do you simply register with the affiliate programs with a template and no content. looking forward to get some feedback from you...thanx Embarassed
