First of all I am NOT a wing commander, Just an SAC, (Senior Air Commodore).
Secondly why should I waste forum space on anything that doesn't even seem to merit a reply to the post, that was viewed by hundreds of readers? If you guys like what I write, then bloody well say so ...as a writer I don't operate in a vacuum!
nuff said.
P.S. And tell you what, if you give me a link, I'll be glad to check out 'Flashman', whoever he is ... tnx. _________________ nil illegitimus carborundum |

i understand that you need feedback, but that often isnt forthcoming. I think over a period of time members either come to accept that or leave the forum.
As we have discussed elsewhere, I think this is because people that post "thank-you'" etc can get flamed quite quickly here, and also, there are tens of thousands of lurkers who are too shy to post, or have been inactive for so long they are a little embarassed to make their first post after being members for two years!
I think that if you carry an attitude and demand attention, people will just read your posts, laugh and carry on with their day.
As with any community, you have to contribute without expecting thanks, but because you want to contribute - its a fairly poor show to retract your contribution just because the community continues seemingly un-changed by your contribution.
If, as you say you need feedback to fuel your creativity, why not attach a poll to your thread?
Oh, ps - Flashman is book 1, the author is George Macdonald Fraser - the link would be your freindly local bookshop |

What have you written lately, and contributed without any expectation of feed-back? _________________ nil illegitimus carborundum |

Well I have contributed these with little or no feedback, but I must honestly tell you that I dont expect a reply for anything that I post - I view posting as giving back, as undoubtedly I get more from this forum than i give
this one took a year and 3 months for a reply!

and on and on!
I sensed a little hostility there pete, im not sure you took my observations in the spirit in which they were attended, so please accept my apology.
The point is, people dont say thank you as much as they should, but dont be put off - even if you give pleasure to just one other person isnt that a beautiful thing?
I also appreciate that there is a difference between writing a story, and posting someone elses pictures, so I guess your emotional investment in this forum doesnt seem to be reaping you the kudos profits you had hoped for! Even so, I know that paying other people compliments will endear you to them and they may be more willing to reciprocate - I notice to date you havent really thanked anyone for their efforts?
anyway, best of luck pete, and I look forward to reading some of your stories in the future |

Ta muchly, you made my day with your erudite words of comfort .
Which part of Limey-land are you from by the way?
I was born in London, a real cockney, I lived in Palmers Green for some years, went to school in Muswell Hill, then to Enfield Tech. after which I 'enrolled ' in the RAF.
Good luck to you too... _________________ nil illegitimus carborundum |
