Hey BigA, thanks for the review. I had a Crushphoto membership for a while way back when, I might try this out for a little while (if only for the zip's). Of course, if the updating and new material is as spotty as you say, I'll probably cancel quickly.

Hmmm, 4 updates since the 1st of March.
Sadly, the experience of a year ago makes me wonder if it is all happening again!
Certainly hope not. |

Here we go again!
There have been 4 updates since the beginning of March, now there is a note on the updates page saying:
"Upon securing of additional capital Crush will resume regular update schedule."
So they are broke. Funny thing is, people are still paying the membership while this goes on. They are still working through older material.
My guess is that the Crush model is going to go the way of the Dodo. This is a pity as they are a nice site really. It has been their own unreliability that has been the major problem. I do hope nothing bad actually happens to them but they need to get themselves sorted if they are to succeed. |

I put a post on the Crushempire forum the other day. It has not been allowed to be seen by the other members of the forum though. I did get a personal email from the Wizard in response to it.
Basically the indication is that there is not enough funds to pay the artists involved. There has been no update recently and the point made that the quality is being insured before the update frequency was made in eerie echo to a post made earlier on this thread.
As my questions (and I assure you all, they are polite and informed, I am not rude in my emails) seem not to be allowed on the forum I am not inclined to participate in the Crush Forum. |

I have just canceled my subscription for the site.
There has been no indication of the time it will take for the funding to be in place and in the meantime the paying members are punting cash into a business that may not give any reward.
The personal response I got from the post is enough to indicate to me that the Wizard is not prepared to be public with the problems that they are experiencing.
I think I have a membership until the 19th and if they pull it together then there is a good chance I will rejoin the site. I enjoy the content and find it a nice change from the usual. To my mind, there are some issues with the quality of the content, however I am happy to go through a couple of duff updates when you get more good ones.
At the present time, there is no sign of any updates at all, and no information as to a time frame being presented either.
Crush has a unique and interesting approach to the whole scene and it is refreshing. What I suspect they lack is a business model that will allow long term success.
Let's be honest. There is absolutely no proof that any of the updates presented since the relaunch are in fact "new". I use quotations there to be clear that "new" means actually taken since December 2007. All the Jez, Cleodora and Athena, Leah etc updates are continuations of older series. Cleo in particular has her own site now (Cali Logan) and I suspect is not interested in working with them again. Hope I am wrong as the Crush shots are better than the ones on her personal site.
Being deeply cynical you could suggest that the relaunch was nothing more than a clearing of older gear and now it is running out suddenly there are cash issues. Given a year to prepare and get ready should have meant that at least 6-8 months of updates would be either in the bag or in the final stages of preparation.
The new pages are nice, the Zip Files are a massive bonus for members (and one I will be using before my time runs out!) and the general quality of the site is high. I wish them well but I wont be losing more money this time. |

It is a real shame that the Crush site ended up like it did. It is a nice site with a lot of great content.
If they just would have been honest about it being an archive site, they could have avoided a lot of controversy. Granted, a lot of folks would not have joined, but I think that the money they got from previous customers was not enough to offset the bad press when it was obvious that they were not truthful about the site content or its direction.
I think Jez is one of the all-time great internet models. I hope she shows up somewhere in the future. |

Well this was kind of obvious:
Despite our highest hopes and most diligent efforts we have regrettably been unable to secure the financial support needed to sustain operations at Crush Studios.
As a result we have discontinued new updates, but will remain open as an archive site.
I a now of the opinion that they were never going to be more than an archive site. There was never any new material coming, everything on the site is from the previous incarnation. They reopened the site with the material they had left over and then sucked in people to see the new stuff. Many promises were made and now broken - again. The talk of a new movie was just that, talk. If they had any material left then they should update it in its raw form to show it to the people that paid for the site.
However, the idea that it will remain open as an archive site simply wont last at its current pay levels. They should drop it to $10 a month and be honest and upfront about it.
I had a horrible sinking feeling when the update schedule was diluted and then at the early points in March when it all started I was pretty resigned to this. The idea that they had not secured the funding for at least the first 6-12 months in advance of opening a new site is not really viable. They would have had to have a business plan and funding in place.
This has been, and always was going to be, an archive site. |

| I'm not defending CRUSH as I was every bit as disappointed in the 'new' site as anyone else was, but I did think that in their 'new' sets, Leah & Athena looked quite a bit older. Sad, 'cuz they were awesome back in the day. |

Nice on jimpanse69!
I still encourage those that are into the site to sign up for a month and get all the stuff you want. The Zipfiles are there for the taking and the movies are all there as well. My membership has lapsed but I have all the stuff I want from there.
I wont be posting any of it as I think they have a sellable product there. Given you can spend a day downloading from the site it is pretty good value for money for one month.
Now, if only we could find where Jezebel has gone off to! Maybe we should start a Thread for Crush girls in other work?
I know Porsche Sin (Eve) has done a film with Taylor Wane (Oral Obsession) doing a lez scene and she also appeared in a mast. scene in Cockless 13. Neither of these have I found yet. Chance did some HC, Cleo became Cali Logan but I have never run across the others.
Anyone can point out other stuff, sure to get the appreciation of the group! |

| There was a lot of debate about this, it looks like Jez and Eve sucking face but it is hard to confirm it really. |

| I've also always been hunting for Jezebel's work outside of Crush. She's always been such a hot topic, she has to have done some work outside of just Crush I'd think! |

Thanks BigA and others for this thread.
I too was a supporter of Crush. I love the photo shoots, the texture of the photos and the physical layouts that brought more admiration to the female body.
After a little while I realized that the updates were ..well you all said it, This review and of the updated CrushEmpire came to me as a surprise. I was wondering about them for a few years now.
Thanx again, my curiosity is met.
cheers! _________________ " Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. " - Voltaire |
