Are these impossible to record? I joined a website that has livecams of their models, and would love to download chunks of the shows to my hard-drive.
I use Internet Explorer.
I've tried "capturewiz," "debut," and "camtasia"
All I get is a black screen...none of the show "sticks" |

Have you tried WM Recorder 12 from Applian Technologies? I've used it to capture streaming video. I haven't tried for what you are proposing but I have had it work on some non-porn sites. They have a "try before you buy" crippled version available, so you see if it works for you.
I believe there is a "feature" in Windows that prevents screen capture programs from accessing the decoded video stream. This seems to be what you have run into.
Website is: http://www.wmrecorder.com/
Let me know if it works. |

Thank you Grumpy. I downloaded the free version and have been merrily downloading my favourite YouTube vids to my PC. However I downloaded one vid (not a YouTube one. A BBC one) and the converter won't touch it. It's saved as a bb file. Any idea how I might convert it into a wmv please? I can play the vid on Media Player Classic but I'd like to upload it as a streaming vid which I can't in it's present form. _________________

I haven't tried the BBC myself. I seem to remember hearing a lot of noise from some of the IT websites about incompatibility issues when they first started up. I suspect the video is well protected by DRM.
I know I have not been able to use this software one websites that use Apple Quicktime streaming video or Abode Flash. |

I use a free program called Desktop Activity Recorder. It is the best freeware program I have tried. It is extremely user and computer friendly. It simply records whatever portion of the screen you select. It works like a charm and has adjustable parameters for video quality and frames per second. It has several different codecs as well. One is .wmv, one is .swf, and at least four are .avi codecs. As far as I know, there is no limit to how long a video it will record, and the program is free forever.
It does not record volume. Just video. _________________
