Oh, please. They may (may) be done for the division, but not for the WC. Come on. I'm a freaking RS fan. Trust me, the Yankees never die.
The Yankees should release a statement that Jim Rome is finished, 'cause he sure ain't burning any more. Is he even relevant in 2008? Other than his staged studio altercation with Jim Everett, has he ever been relevant? |

Dude, I'm telling you. It's like a bad zombie movie. The Yankees always rise from the dead..and are usually looking for brains too, since they have none.
But don't worry, Tampa fan. You will learn this horrible truth over the years. If the Rays don't go back to permanently sucking after one good year, that is... |

Jim Rome is an idiot.
As for the yank me's being done - from your lips to god's ears.
Mets fan here...
@Billy
My condolences on losing Manny.
If there was ever a yank me killer it was him.
I don't want to think about him making it to the WS because that would mean the Mets lost and Torre AGAIN is there.
Oh, my fave RS moment - Pedro throwing down old man Zimmer!
Stay off the field old man if you can't take care of yourself! LMAO _________________ MET Requests: http://www.forumophilia.com/viewtopic.php?t=74771

Happy as a clam to see that motherf$@#$ go. His best is behind him, and what he did (quitting on his team) was just about the worst thing you can do in sports. Good luck with him next year in NY.
And why Zimmer did not get thrown out of baseball for that is still a mystery. A coach attacking a player? That is a criminal act that should have been prosecuted. The hypocrisy of the Yankees is absurd - they have had more pitchers known for deliberately throwing at player's heads than any other team, but they cry like little girls if one of their preening sluggers takes one in the thigh. Big bunch of babies. |

Wow, didn't know you felt that way about Manny, but you have to admit he did have a tendency to come through against them. And he only made Ortiz better because they had to pitch to him.
As for throwing at guys, I seem to remember Pedro plunking Soriano AND Jeter to start a game at the stadium - loved it. _________________ MET Requests: http://www.forumophilia.com/viewtopic.php?t=74771

Yeah, Manny better not walk around downtown Boston anytime soon. He really made a lot of enemies overnight. And sure he killed the Spankees in the past, but this year he could have given Rivera his first blown save of the year and instead took 3 pitches down the pipe to end the game with the bases loaded to 'punish' the team for leaking that he had been disciplined internally for assaulting a senior citizen employee of the team. He will never be forgiven for that.
And Pedro loved to intimidate and throw inside, but he never threw at anybody's head. Two completely different things. |

| Hey, as much fun as it is to rag on his AAA team...is bigpaulie alive? Has he posted anywhere recently? No loudmouth Spankme fan posts here, nor any recent posts in the Haley thread. Hope all is OK in Yankee-delusion land. |

I can't blieve I'm about to type these words, but...
Go Yankees!
Beat the MF Devil Rays. A sweep would be lovely, if you please.
How funny is it to see the Yankees put in a position where they either lose and see a new team replace them as 1/2 of the AL East 1-2 punch in the playoffs, or they win and help their mortal enemies gain ground in the Division and homefield for the ALCS?
That's what you get for sucking, boys.
But feel free to not suck in the upcoming series against the D-Rays... Here's some flat out heresy:
LETS go YAN-kees. (bam, bam, bam-bam-bam)
LETS go YAN-kees. (bam, bam, bam-bam-bam)
LETS go YAN-kees. (bam, bam, bam-bam-bam) |

| Great to see some baseball enthusiast. The Yanks used to be one of the teams I watched during the late 90s. Now they just overpay for any players they take in. |

Well how about them Spankees? Taking 2/3 at the Crap...I mean Trop. My bad. And now Toronto has already taken the first 2 in Toronto, ensuring consecutive series losses.
Both Boston and Tampa should win today (out of embarassment and desperation respectively), and if the division standings don't change before Monday's series opener at Fenway, all the Sox need to do is take 2/3 at home to make the division a virtual tie (1/2 game lead for TB).
And BTW, is it just me or is anyone else confused looking up the Rays/Jays scores online? It's hard to tell the two logos apart and figure out who's winning.
It also reminds me of Homer with his "You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay" litany, even though I never really understood what that particular reference was to. EDIT: I looked it up...and I wish I had not wasted my time doing so. Complete nobody comedian. |
