first, they're in .vob format, right.
how do i make them into.. some kind of more usable format?
even if i try to open the vobs from my files, my pc crashes.
i tried to rename them to .mpg, but my computer still crashed, when i tried to play the files. |

monkey d!
danke!
now i know why people dont rip/upload so much - it takes bloody forever!
1) the converting - my 20 mb vob ended up 360 mb avi.
thats too much, me thinks.
what should i choose to get about 100 mb? "trial & error" would make me slit the wrists, i'm afraid.
2) Why cant i split the files into 200 mb? I tried, but the machine changed it back to 100 all the time. I’m a premium user.
3) I’m capable of 1 giga per sec, but my upload speed in rs was about 60 kps all the time. I changed the telias and cogents and „send buffer size“, but to no avail. |

Ok...
1) VOB files are AVI files (sort of: MPEG2 video; AC-3, PCm or Mpeg1 or 2 audio interlaced with subtitles) - try renaming it to AVI or play it with Media Player Classic (http://www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html) or VLC media player (http://uberdownloads.com/software/video-player/VLC.html)
Frequently when you do a video convertion the size goes up loads because of the output resolution and / or quality.
2) To split the files into whatever size you want, use HJSplit (http://rapidshare.com/files/95173583/hjsplit.exe) or FSJ (http://www.jaist.ac.jp/~hoangle/filesj/) which handles both HJSplit and it's own format. HJSplit format is the common one, but FSJ format allows a password. Or, if you wish to pay for the privelege (or find a naughty site) use WinRAR or WinZIP which will also split archives.
3) If you are on ADSL then your upload speed is normally between around a fifth and a tenth of your download speed - I'm getting 2784/448 today, which would be about 50kbytes per second Rapidshare upload. (Remember speeds are normally quoted in bits per second, so your 1 gig download is roughly 100k bytes per second) Now you see why so many different people post the same damn links!
Sorry about that, RS blocked the file for no obvious reason. _________________ Think of it as evolution in action. |
