Any chance this feature could be added to the forum? Many other forums have it, so it can't be too hard to implement.

It would be nice to post fullsize images without manually resizing them in photoshop as needed. Thumbnails are way too small, clicking through them is a chore.

Also, built-in image resizing means one less rule for the mods to monitor.

Seems like it would save time for everyone ... ?

Thanks for listening.

Well, you can try a lot of things, but maybe first:

-When you want to post an image, try the attachment, the image is automatically resized.

-You can try to upload your image via some image hosting sites (see authorized first, but I'm used to work with "yourimagename" which allows you to choose the thumbs' size). But you can find the full list here:
https://www.forumophilia.com/topic59567.html

-You can too use Xn-view, quite simplest to use than photoshop, fast and free...

If i understand you right you mean an automatic resize of hotlinked images to the allowed values (650x1300 at the moment).
And maybe by clicking on it the pic is displayed in full size.

That would be nice, don't believe i like this annoying "Please resize your pics ..." comenting in a thread.
The board software is rather old and so i don't think we can implement this, although i hope svinto proofs me wrong.

I know it's a bit more work for posters to handle two preview pics: one fullsized, normally posted as a thumb and another resized for hotlinking.
Unfortunately there is a imagehoster missing that would allow thumbs of maybe 400x400 or bigger, even those who allow hotlinking have small thumbs, that's too bad.

In the meantime maybe also try IrfanView, a small image software that allows you easily to resize your one big preview and save it in the same directory under another filename. Once you found the hotkeys it's done in under 10 seconds (also batch processing is possible)

Sorry Loui can't prove you wrong when you are right.
The soft is in computer terms anchient.
Ever since 2006 (two years after the forum start) Good Samaritan (site owner) have been asked several times every year for a software upgrade.
This far as you can see, no change.
Not even the next version, after the current, which would accomodate a patch for a thank you button. Sad

I´m quite new here, but from what I have seen this far is that mainly people post compressed archives and maybe (in the best case) a preview. Therefore posting a simple good preview/sample sheet should not be a problem.

a.) use reliable good image host which has big enough thumb preview option. Yes, they die eventually. They die even on closed boards. That´s why You also write some information about your file.
b.) I have had no problem with the integrated image attachment system this far. But I tend to use Imagevenue or Imagebam instead.

If You want to upload the original, upload it to a host, post a BBcode.
Uploading HQ pics straight to a board is senseless, it clutters system faster than light.

IrfanView is a great application to create contact sheets from several, and any images You wish to pick. If your image is/becomes too big, use compression. You can compress 7-10 MB image easily to a lossy 3 MB, which suits better than good for your..blind downloader.
If You use Mac, You don´t need my advices. Just 5 (or 6) keyboard buttons. Or use a Sheet workflow.

My 2 cents. Need more info, ask.

Thanks for the responses.

I'd use attachments if I could scale them to 600x. I don't know what the url of "yourimagename" is ?
I don't think any of the approved hosters allow large thumbnails though ... or did I miss something ?

Irfan is indeed a useful program, but that's more than I was planning to do. Generally I'm talking about one or two oversized images per post.

But since it's an issue with the forum software, I guess upgrades like this will have to wait ...
