Howdy Chaps,

Ive got ( so i thought) every codec under the sun.. For some reason i cannot play mp4 movie clips which are in .mov format. States apple does not have the relevant codecs. I have installed mp4 codecs from sites i use and installed the quicktime alternative, all with no joy.

Any ideas?

Before I was able to view MP4s, I had to download iTunes from Apple.com. That includes the latest Quicktime. After the installation, you can uninstall iTunes if you don't need it, but what you have left should play MP4s.

I have heard of some MP4s that simply will not play on any Windows machine. If they were created on a Mac, there is a slim possibility that the codec you need was never licensed for release in Windows.

Or even more simple:

Thanks - works like a charm! I just wasted nearly an hour googling info about mp4, downloading some thing that I decided not to run because the publisher was unknown, then downlaoding some thing from elecard that I was directed to from the official microsoft update site. The elecard thing didn't work, either. Then I thought 'Hey, maybe there's info on forumophilia'.
