Who here likes a good war movie when they're not busy watching a good porno movie? I'd be interested to know what war movies (if any) you fine gentlemen would suggest as their favourite / least favourite and maybe even why.

Ah, the art of war! Well, as an "old" (33) warrior I can appreciate a good war movie! Black Hawk Down is good. Based on a real incident. BUt I think my all time fav. is Apocalypse Now. Fucking insane! Love it!

Other good films:
- Tigerland
- Full Metal Jacket
- Windtalkers
- Platoon

I have to add a norwegian movie called "9 liv" (9 lifes). Very old, but very good!

All very good choices, most of my favs go back to the time of the big all-star cast movies of the 60's and 70's -

Battle of Britain
A Bridge Too Far
The Longest Day
The Dam Busters (old but still a classic)
12 O'clock High (exceptionally good, even if it is over 50 years old)
633 Squadron (not very real but fun to see again)
Mosquito Squadron (same as 633)
The Great Escape
All Quiet on the Western Front
Gallipoli
Dawn Patrol (really old)
Von Richthofen and Brown
Flight of the Intruder
We Were Soldiers
Band of Brothers (top mini series)
Piece of Cake (another top series)
World at War series (best documentary series I've ever seen)

I could probably go on forever, if I haven't already...

I remember Kelly's Heroes, they were supposed to steal gold or something from the Germans with he help of some German soldiers I think.

A few more:

Escape to Victory (pows playing soccer against Nazis)
The Eagle Has Landed
Memphis Belle (even if the real story didn't quite go like this one)
Z Force
Heroes of the Krait
The Heroes
Heroes II - The Return
Enemy at the Gates (fantastic and fairly true)
Tora Tora Tora (leaves that crap "Pearl Harbor" for dead)

Oh.... just remembered...what's it called.... Three Kings, is it? With George Clooney! Liked that one! Cool!

And... "Troy" - Ok, the war was a long, long time ago but still a war Smile

Three Kings was excellent - Chicago singing If You Leave Me Now and all these Iraqis running away from what they think is Saddam coming to kill them! Laughing

Haven't gotten round to seeing Troy, but if you want to go back, how about The Last of the Mohican's? Awesome, especially the pursuit of the "bad" Indians at the end and the fighting that goes on there.
