On the other hand, I think it's only a matter of time, until security holes
of Mozilla are being used for installing viruses and trojans too.

I run into this problem as well once in a while. So for most of my browsing I use Safari (Mac) and then I keep IE for those sites that require it for full functionality (not that many really).

I use Mozilla Firefox and I don't have problems getting in any site. When I used IE i used to get a lot of virus alerts from my firewall (especially while surfing porn) but now almost nothing. Highly recommended, and also your using software not made by microsoft so you win double.
