Hi There

I read an interesting article in the UK Guardian Technology section newspaper today whilst waiting for a flight. It is headed "What does unlimited mean". It all about broadband and how the various ISP's throttle bandwidth for high users or high demand times. I cannot find a link on google yet. It is Thursday 1st Feb 2007 Issue. Written by SA Mathieson.

I have had some connection problems with BT and RS.com and I suspect it is their method of limiting bandwidth. If others have seen it due you agree?

PS the https function gets around it at the moment.

Interesting article, but I'm not sure it accounts for the RS problems (which I have encountered also).

In order for such a block to be effective, it would have to take into account all of the other major share sites, but I haven't heard of anyone encountering similar problems with megaupload or megashare. And rapidshare.de doesn't seem to be affected either.

It would be far easier to reduce download speeds to users in the way that has been suggested.

I suspect it is more likely, in this instance, to be an overload on the rapidshare.com servers that is limiting access to the site.

Unfortuantely trying to get a straight answer out of either BT or rapidshare is a bit of a lost hope...
