I'm about to upload my first pictures to this forum, but I have a question.

I have about 100 pics I'm going to zip and upload to rapidshare. When I zip the files up, will the zip file contain any personal information, for example, the name of the computer or the folders that it came from? Some of the pictures are cropped. Will the cropped pictures contain other information, such as the name of the software used, etc.? TIA.

Hi PeterSterling.
I don't no it for sure, but I don't think that a zip file you create contains anything of your private information.
You should protect the zip containing adult material with a pass, and give it a inconspicuous name, so RS don't know what that zip contains (they delete adult stuff as soon as they get knowledge about it).
I have er... "obtained" some pics and videos of different sites and the most are unprotected, only few use DRM or something like that.

So post whatever you like as long as it is allowed here Smile

JPEGs contain the name of the software used to create them. Not sure about Zip files, but surely knowing the program isn't a substancial risk to privacy? Zips certainly don't contain personal details (even if they did, it's not like your computer's going to have a globally recognisable name anyway).

Of course the upload host you use will log your IP address, which can be used to trace you. Then again, so do most forums.

I note you have cropped the files so wonder if they have been electronically tagged with your ID? Is that why and if so I would be interested to know if there is anything else to electronic tagging as I have the same issue with a certain site.
