debug mode

for quite a while i was unable to open forums and got a message headed "debug mode".was this a problem just for me or was it a general site problem?

It was a general problem. I received several PMs asking about it. I could log onto the site but when I tried to access any of the forums I got the following message.

I'm assuming the site was partially down to try to repair some problems we've been having latley.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Whenever there is an SQL error, it's database related and is a general error and not related to any single user.
Although an admin I don't have either acces to the database or knowledge how to fix it.
