I'm looking for an easy to use program (preferably small and free) that will allow me to cut scenes out of my full, already digitized movies. Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

PS - Sorry if this information is already in one of these posts. I just couldn't find it.

VirtualDub is able to do that (and its free - there are a few versions, you may need one called VirtualDubMod if the video clip is in .mpg format)

load your video then goto:

Video>Direct Srteam Copy

('Direct Stream Copy' will give you an exact copy of the original file, no need to re-encode, just the same picture quality minus the bits you don't want Wink)

create an in-point and an out-point (area in blue) highlight that section then delete

screenshot

the interface appears a bit basic but once you get the hang of it (learning curve is a bit steep) VirtualDub is a very powerful piece of software

If you do want to re-encode the video using a different codec then you will need to select 'Full Processing Mode' (VirtualDub default)

There are a couple of threads here and there ... one in the Vid section ... and one I started in the tech section. Wink
https://www.forumophilia.com/topic30254.html

Anyway I'm not a big fan of V-Dub. Always had various problems when using it, but granted I'm not very geeky when it comes to this stuff. Maybe its better now, I went through this stuff last year?

Instead, I use software from Boilsoft -- AVI MPEG RM WMV Splitter (they also have a fantastic Joiner program as well, AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner). Fast, super-easy to use, etc etc.

Downside ... its not free.

Upside ... there are free trial versions, and "cracks" all over the place. In here, and at other places. A little searching, bada boom, bada bing, you'll be slicing and dicing in no time. Very Happy

Just my opinion.

p.s. example: try searching on "Boilsoft" in FP, you'll get lots of hits.

If your operating system is XP then you should already have something that may do the job. Windows Movie Maker. It's slow and cranky and hates Russian vids but if you're patient it usually gets the job done.

Just another word about VDubMod. VDub doesn't allow you to work with VBR mp3 audio tracks, requiring you to demux and reencode them at a constant rate. VDubMod issues a warning, but then goes ahead and processes the file. This is especially important with porn, as just about every porn file you can find was made with VBR mp3 audio.
