I downloaded some videofiles from a newsgroup, but can't seem to be able to view or combine them. There are 3 types of files: RAW image, par2 and the mpeg files has and filename_mpeg.001 (and up) extension. How can I watch this?

I do not know what the RAW image is for.

The .001 and up files are your video splitted into many parts with a fixed size. You must join them into one file when you have downloaded every part. One program which can do this for you is Mastersplitter from http://www.tomasoft.com/ . It's shareware but who cares.

The par2 file contains information about the files you downloaded (like size and checksum). So can control whether you downloaded them correctly (usenet is not always easy). The program to use is at http://www.quickpar.org.uk/ . This is optional, you do not need to do this check.

Hope this helped.

For joining/splitting large files, try also HJSplit

it is totally free Smile

Alex and Dayfan,

Are you saying that these programs will split the larger file, but you then must join them again before viewing?

WAIT, I just now joined the three back together and it worked fine. Are there any programs out there that will split a file into smaller segments that can be viewed individually? I have a 5mb vid that I want to split down so that I can post it and see if anyone else recognizes this girl, but there is no need to post the whole 5 mb. Anyway, thanks in advance and thanks for past help.

Just use winrar - split it into 4 pieces (1.5mb is the limit here) and attach all 4 here.

5mb isn't too large to post.

You'd have to use a video editor to get four seperate playable files.
Virtualdub will do it easily enough.
(search on google).
