Description: LES PETITES ECOLIERS - This Frederic Lansac French XXX film is one of Brigitte Lahaie's very best. Description: Richard Lemieuvre's wife (Nicole Segaud) leaves town temporarily. Description: The laurels of the Italian erotomaniac Tinto Brass and pornographer Bob Guccione, who in 1979 presented the world with the pretentious porno-trash blockbuster "Caligula", which acquired both a bad reputation (true, black PR is still PR), and good box office receipts, did not give rest to the Italian trashmaker Bruno Mattei, who in 1981, with the collaboration of his co-directors Antonio Passaglia and Jean-Jacques Renon, released a semi-official sequel to the creation of Brass and Guccione under the title "Caligula and Messalina", telling about the relationship, mainly below the belt, between the bloodthirsty Boots and the ancient Roman sex bomb Messalina, along the way showing the unsightly reality of the then Roman Empire. However, whether Mattei was afraid of excessive attacks from the censors, or simply considered himself a serious filmmaker, but "Caligula and Messalina" turned out to be a rather bland, sometimes boring and dull, low-budget peplum, the plot of which is occasionally brightened up by splashes of action and light erotica, which is why, among all the versions of the stories of Caligula, even frankly pornographic or wildly shocking (like "Caligula: The Untold Story" by D. Amato), the film "Caligula and Messalina" looks simply raw and incomprehensible, largely due to the lack of good actors in the film who are truly able to play, because Gino Turini in the role of Caligula looks unconvincing, he will never reach the level of Malcolm McDowell in principle, and the actress Betty Roland, although she tries in every possible way to be dramatic in the role of Messalina, in the end nothing good comes out of it. The film's supporting characters are completely forgettable, as are the sets, which are not always precise, although cinematographer Louis Ciccarese's work boasts a touch of aesthetics in both the violent scenes and the erotic exercises.
The film's soundtrack, composed by Giacomo and Gianni Del, Orso, is also quite good, sounding quite melodic.
