Description: On the one hand, this film needs no special recommendation. It was after "Sex" that Michael Ninn became known to the general public. On the other hand, it's impossible not to say a few words about this porn masterpiece.
The plot of "Sex 1" is, in general, simple. A young man from rural America, leaving his girlfriend at home, heads to the big city in search of a better life. Working there as a taxi driver, he meets representatives of the porn industry, who recruit him into this field. But no matter who the protagonist has sex with, he can't forget his girlfriend. The guy begins to drown his sorrows in alcohol and drugs, gradually losing his mind, and so on. In "Sex 2," the plot is even simpler: the protagonist's girlfriend, not waiting for his return to her home village, sets out to look for him in the big city and... falls into the clutches of those same pornographers, with all the ensuing consequences. But this description fails to capture Ninn's signature atmosphere. Reality and fantasy, reality and delusion, are intricately intertwined, so it's often impossible to tell whether what's happening is real or just a hallucination. Ninn employs numerous professional camera techniques during filming.
In terms of pornography ideology, Ninn emphasizes fetishism, maintains a dark tone in his films, and targets male viewers.
"Sex," in my opinion, is also unusual in that the characters discuss the nature of the porn industry at length, which is of interest to anyone seriously interested in porn.
My personal favorite actresses in this film: Debi Diamond - she makes sex as natural and sincere as she breathes.
