Torrent question and ccf/dlc file questions

Hi all. Hate to be the guy who asks what many will consider to be stupid questions, but here goes:

1. I use bitorrent. I am downloading a movie, and its going really slow. Under the seeds area, it says 4(5909). I assume this means there are 5909 people seeding, and the 4 is how many I can get. With 5900 people seeding, I should be getting better than 6 kb/s right? My others are between 40 and 80 kb/s. Can I make it go any faster. Pineapple express is awesome, but I dont want to have too wait 3 weeks to see it.


2. Also, .ccf and .dlc are screwing with me. I have been reading about them and it seems there are no trusted programs to open them...virus', spyware, malware come with most of them according to the reviews. Anybody know of anything good.

1. Yes you should get more speed with 5000+ seeders but there is some things that might hinder that: Are you running other torrents at the same time? - running too many torrents will (offcourse) mean that the speed on each torrent is gonna be less than optimal. The client you are running may also be the problem, not all clients interprete the info sent from the tracker correctly - if you are not allready using one of these I would recommend utorrent or vuze. Maybe the seeders are throttling their speed (bad form really), and lastly it might be that there's just too many leechers on the torrent and that can only really be solved by going to a private tracker (if you send me your emailadress in a PM I will send you an invite to Demonoid - not the best private tracker but you have to start somewhere) or Usenet which is the only place where I can max out my 100 mbit line.

2. A ccf file is a container file for Cryptload ( www.Cryptload.info ) which encrypts the download-links (from Rapidshare etc.) so it's not readily viewable.
A dlc file is the same just for Jdownloader ( www.Jdownloader.org )

By the way you can use both Cryptload and Jdownloader for both ccf and dlc files (and for rsdf) so you only have to install one of them.

And yes ccf and dlc files (and rsdf) can link to viruses,trojans etc but that can happen also if you download from Rapidshare etc. normally. So the advice is: only download files from people you trust, and if not completely sure virus/malware scan the shit out of them. And use your common sense: If you download a movie expect to see avi or mkv files (or another media file) if you see an exe file - delete! The same goes if you download a picture-set or movie from here anything else than avi (or mkv,mov or wmv) or jpg is suspect and if you ever see an executable file if you haven't downloaded a program or a game - Delete Delete Delete!

some public trackers might be compromised by anti pirating agencies, and have a fake amount of seeders to lure people in. be wary of that...
