Hey at all.

Well, I've promised to contribute to some threads on here
and it has been really a while since I've uploaded anything
on rapidshare, to tell the truth.

Since all the changes on rapidshare, I'm confused. Rolling Eyes

How long do they keep my files alive if I uploaded anything
without having a premium-account?

I mean I've heard that the uploaded file of a person
without an account can be only downloaded a few
times and then it's over...end of being able to download.
Is this true or did they change this policy again somewhen?

Any answer would be much appreciated. Smile

Thanks in advance.

That's true - your files can only be downloaded 10 times if you don't transfer them to a free collector's account. Rapidshare ask if you want to create one after your file is uploaded. See attached pic for more information. Wink

Thanks for being this nice to help me out on this one, humlan.

I've watched your screenshot exactly and it says
"File can be downloaded more than 10 times" but
I wonder how many times it means. 20 times? Rolling Eyes

I don't know but I think I have no other option left
than trying it out on my own, I guess.

Again, thanks. I didn't know this before with the
"free collecter-account" and all that. Smile

I'm not sure on this one.

If I would decide to invest money on an account then
I had to cary about of letting the account stay active
because if I wouldn't, my uploaded files would dissapear
with the end of the account, too.
I don't want to pay rapidshare until the end of my days only
because of letting my uploaded files stay downloadable. Shocked
Nahhh, fuck that, man. Laughing

I mean I'm rolling pretty fine for free since
now and the only thing that sucks is the
"file can be only downloaded 10 times".

I will follow humlan's advice now and then
I'll find out how happy I am with the so
called "free collecter account". Idea

Thanks to you both of you. Very Happy

No, for collector's accounts there is no limitation, but files that have not been accessed for 90 days are deleted to relieve the system of forgotten and not needed content. (This rule does not apply to Premium members.)

That's Rapidshare's own words. Wink

That's not a problem either. You can move your files from a premium account to a free collector's account.

Code:
dead link

Go to this page and scroll down to the article published on October 23, 2008 - Fit for the future.

Lastly we have a thorough positive announcement: With immediate effect the FileMigrator has been made available, enabling you to move any files between Accounts, namely with the following combinations: From Collector's to Collector's, from Collector's to Premium, from Premium to Collector's, from Premium to Premium. LinkLists can be transferred from Premium- to Premium Account. More information is available in the Collector's-Zone, and respectively in the Premium Zone.

I've tried it myself.

Here's a text file uploaded to my premium account:

I clicked "Transfer to Collector Account" and this window popped up:

Entered my login information to my already existing Collector account - hit "initiate transfer" - and the file ends up there:

Simple as that, the download URL stays the same. The security lock have to be deactivated on both accounts though. Wink

Thank you, humlan. Smile

I didn't know this all before and maybe I'll buy me a
premium-account someday.

That's really a great tutorial that you've made for me.
Thanks for all the efforts.
