It's nice that people say thanks, but it'll put old threads at the top.

In my humble opinion, users should say thanks and ask questions thru pms. So new threads would stay fresh aka. on top of the forum

Interesting thought. So replying to a thread bumps that thread to the top and pushes other threads down?

I wonder what happens when someone starts a completely content-free a.k.a. useless new whining thread?

I think I will make a point of coming back to this thread every day and bumping it. Twisted Evil

Yeah but sometimes you'll find fantastic stuff in "old" topics !! 'Cause its almost impossible to search trough every topic here ! You'll be busy for ages !
And some people here are putting a lot of work in their topic...and you'be surprised how fast it can dissapear in the list after a day

On the ModTheSims website there is a function, a button, attached to all content posts which allows people to just click it to say thanks.

From my experience with it, more people express their gratitude since alot of people dont feel like spam posting thanks all the time.
It also removes a massive amount of spam posts and as a result postcount also becomes a more accurate gauge of a members participation.

I've seen this (and a voting system) on other forums, where it can work well. Unfortunately, I suspect that (as with so many things) the software this forum is based on is too old to support these. I can't see that changing - hell I wouldn't want the job of switching to a new system!

Scanlover forum also has this kind of thing. It speeds up surfing a lot and is so convenient. It's a huge innovation imo. Wink
