Let me introduce Kat. Her first shoot, in the studio with the soft lights and the graceful camera angles was painful to edit. Thanks Kat. It took me a long time to decide which of the five cameras stole the more beautiful image at any one time. A futile endeavor as what gets left on the cutting room floor feels arbitrary and I have such a strong aversion to losing beauty. But still we have this and this is really so lovely. Thanks Kat. Thanks producers.

The garden shed is a trusted suburban sanctuary and Laura seems to have a favourite spot to retreat from the household. Us introverts need our space, away from those people who never stop singing out loud, who have to fill every space with words, who'll come barreling through your bedroom door if they haven't seen you for like 5 minutes. Too much stimulation, and not the right kind.

I tend to think of moving images as fleeting moments but here on IFM we also have decisive moments, they just happen to be fleeing moments also. Like her namesake, Viscous' movements reveal a flow or current that is less like a powerful river and more like a bubbling brook - a resistance and pace that is calm but not unaffected. Viscous' artful contributions all the way from Nicaragua have earned her the I Shot Myself art prize this month and we couldn't be more impressed with her keen eye for composition. I wonder what Viscous sees when her eyes roll back into her head - because her imagination might well be kaleidoscopic.

Laney and Kenji, on the other hand, operate like a good relationship should - they communicate technique and thus respond with ease and respect to those ever-important bodily cues.
