I have about 15-20 that I keep stored. I have all of the Iron Maiden albums, kept them for the covers, most Pink Floyd and Dead albums also, I'll have to take a look and let you know the exact count.

It dosent have to be exact mate just a general will do its just I ma wondering if anyone has kept a large collection,The largest collection I know of is Paul Gambachini's personal collection he bought the whole top 100 every week (not doubling up) from 1953 to the present day on record as far as I know he still has them all stored somewhere

scrub that last bit look here

At a guess - a couple of hundred albums, and a few dozen singles. One day I'll buy a deck that copies to MP3 and archive the lot!

Having said that, I haven't played any of them since my deck broke about 20 years ago. Embarassed

I have about 50 old jazz records and a few bigband 78s. I found them in a box in the house I was cleaning out.

Probably around 200, all the ones I really liked have been replaced by CD.
I don't know why I keep them, I doubt they will ever be worth much even though I took excellent care of them...

I have some original beatles in mint condition but i think the problem is that there are so many of them out there taht the value is badly affected by that,I think if you like them collect them but as far as value its what value they have to you not in cash

I have about 200 that I keep......don't know why.......I'll never play them again probably. I still have my linear tracking turntable I bought in 1984. All the albums I have, I have their duplicates on CD.

Have you seen Best Buy is selling albums now?

I still have my linear tracking turntable too. I'm not sure how many albums I kept, it was mostly things I never thought would make it to CD although some have. Neil Young's Time Fades Away hasn't and the odds are essentially zilch that it ever will.

And I might've kept a Souther/Hillman/Furay record because it was a quadrophonic pressing.

The german label Blue Rose records is now offering a lot of new vinyl including you pick the songs 45s from their stable of mostly american roots rockers.

Thinking about old records reminded me of my cherished vhs copy of Let It Be. If only Paul and Ringo would accept that they always didn't play great and things weren't always warm and fuzzy with them all and get about re-editing it and release it on dvd.

I never collected any vinyl, my mother did though and she still has a ton, maybe about 100 or so records just taking up dust.

I agree , a record cover ist like a good book you can view a lot of times , sometimes with great information , posters , big booklets .

A Cd- cover , watch one time the plastic Box ,read the Booklet when included wih an magnifier . Is not the same feeling.

i suppose as a dj I am more comfortable with plastic its just so hands on

I think I have a few hundreds, and every now and then I listen some of them ... Yes, the best I have also on CD, but for me sometimes it's a feeling like in the "good old days" listen this music and the songs on the original LP Wink Some of those records don't exist on CD I think - or I didn't find it - but thanks of the days of existing technique I took most of them on PC ..... and every time it's nice to hear old songs Smile
