20th Birthday of the Internet

The Internet is 20 years old today!

It has brought a revolution to the world - email; web browsers; Spam; Wikipedia; Search Engines; streaming video......

Anyone have any other suggestions of what the Internet has brought...

Yes back in the day before websites, I remember the old BBS days surfing at the lighting 14.4k and you could go have your dinner and watch your fave TV show while downloading a 100k image from some far away land.

I think the first four letters I typed into one the the new search engines which I think then was Netscape was P.O.R.N lol

Then all of a sudden my phone bills went up to tipple figures lol

Remember searching through thousands of 'Newsgroups' looking for that elusive p0rn....

but they were also the days before "Rules" were invented (or enforceable)

And remember the generation who grew up thinking girls had staples in their midriffs?

I've only been on the net for about 3/4 of its existence.
It's mindblowing to think what it'll be like in another 20 years.

One of the great things about the net for me is that I've been able to meet and become friends with a number of people whom I never would have met any other way. A few of them have become some of my closest friends. Another thing is that it's such a great research tool. You can find information on just about any subject you can name with just a click. The smut and general insanity of the net are great fun too.
