For f*ckssake, as me Irish brethren might say, I should have gotten #5!!! But I never would have. I love that song, RM, even though she didn't write it, if I'm not mistaken...and i think it's on her second cd, not the first. Imhgo, I think she came out a lil too early, and missed out on that whole Lilith thing. An amazing talent Sinead is, maybe too much of the real deal for her to keep it together the way she may have...

Good quiz, Ramblin' - lookin' forward to the next!

Gnome, clearly you've been getting wayyyyyy too much sex lately. Laughing The Sinéad O'Connor song I posted is the second song on her chart-bustin' "I do not want what I haven't got", which I thought was her first real album but could be wrong? Its the song with a real funky beat along with the odd Celtic music. Did she write it? Thought so, but you are probably right ... after all, her biggest hit, Nothing Compares 2 U, was a goldarn Prince song, another reason I didn't include it. RM HATES Prince. HATEhimHATEhimHATEhimHATEhimHATEhimHATEhim. Gaaaack.

Darkstar ... hello, Sir Darkstar? Must be too busy cleaning up this place. I'm posting another set in a couple minutes, so if that doesn't have your blessing, use your powers to edit or delete, you big ol' scary mod you.

Okay, I'm going to try and post a set that will bring more people in, young and old, with some easy and hard ones. This time the theme is ... 1999.

The year Ramblin'Man was born. Shocked

Was still working as a "corporate prostitute" at that point, but yes, the seeds were sown.

3 years later I was homeless. Twisted Evil

Please note: for this musical 1999 foray, there will be NO, and I repeat, NO... Britney Spears, Eminem, TLC, Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Jose Martin Morales (aka Ricky Martin), or Cher. Nope. A couple of the albums come from 1998, but all these songs were on the charts for MCMXCIX.

One final item: instead of 10 songs, there are 11, due to the Y2K bug. Laughing Laughing

1.
I used to adore you
I couldn't control you
There was nothing that I wouldn't do
To keep myself around and close to you

2.
All the stars explode tonight
How'd you get so desperate
How'd you stay alive
Help me please
Burn the sorrow from your eyes
Oh, come on be alive again
Don't lay down and die

3.
Is there a cure among us
From this processed sanity
I weaken with each voice that sings
In this world of purchase
I'm going to buy back memories
To awaken some old qualities

4.
Fashion m.ag shoots
with the aid of 8 dust brothers Beck, Hanson
Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes, run to your mansions
Come around, we'll kick your ass in!

5.
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift your open hand
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance
Silver moon's sparkling

6.
I can't stand myself
I'm being held up by an invisible man
Still life on a shelf when
I got my mind on something else
Sunny days - where have you gone?
I get the strangest feeling you belong

7.
In my dreams I'm dying all the time
As I wake its kaleidoscopic mind
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to lie

8.
It's been three years, one night apart
But in that night you tore my heart
If only you had slept alone
If those seeds had not been sown

9.
Fox hole love, pie in your face
Living in and out, of a big fat suitcase
Bonafide ride, step aside my Johnson
Yes I could, in the woods of Wisconsin

10.
If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same
The only difference is, to let love replace all our hate
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there

11.
Why did it take so long
Why did I take so long, huh
To figure it out, but I didn't
And I'm the only one
Underneath the sun who didn't get it

Ahhh, Sri Gnome, but I bet you know all the songs though. Despite how much you and I talk about the Floyd and Jimmy M and other bands from "yesteryear" ... despite how old you and I and Darkstar all are (40) ... there was some great music made in the 90s, as I'm sure you know. This current decade, the "oughts", is not doing as well IMRO. Sad

Back to Space, 1999. Este-Van already grabbed Moby, creator of one of my top 3 albums of the entire decade (Play, 1999). However, Esty-the-Molesty, you've got to work on the title of that New Radicals song ... try it again boyo.

Still almost half the set left. Come on folks, before Darkstar decides to just take the rest of them! There's still a "Chick-rock" song, and a "God-rock" song, and a song from a flea-bitten LA band. Wink

For crying out loud RM I am trying to have some fun here! Jesus "H" Talk about perfectionisticaly ruining that! o.k. I just invented a word there but...

...PERFECTIONIST! Twisted Evil

I didn't want to cheat by googling it so I used Yaaaaahhhoooooooooo instead. It's (The?) New Radicals - You Get What You Give. And since I admit looking it up I accept the half point (or no points at all if I got the band name techincally wrong in the first place by including a "The" Rolling Eyes in their name but... since you are also a Moby fan then shouldn't I get 1.5 points for that??? For having such a good taste in music? Hmmm??? Smile

Oh and BTW... Esty-the-Molesty??? How endearing! I am no worse than you "MR. RAMBLIN' ON THE RUN MAN" (that used to be a teacher) And you know it! Laughing

Good one though, I must admit! Laughing Laughing Laughing (please don't repeat Twisted Evil )

Oh now Esty, of course I was just giving you shit and being a pain in the ass regarding that song title. Razz

Honestly, just wanted an excuse to call you "Boyo". Laughing And I do a decent Eirrish accent ... kind of like Bono with a massive hangover. Cool

Moby fan or not you'll get nothing but love from me from now on my young deartháir. Very Happy And if you like Moby's Play that much, make sure you get his next album called "18" which is simply more in a similar vein. And his latest one, Hotel, is growing on me every time I listen to it, and has one of my ALL-TIME favorite songs on it (and that's saying something).

Esty-the-Molesty ... did I really say that? Embarassed Sheesh, I guess Chateauneuf de Pape is good for the creativity or whatever... And I would be Ramblin' on the Run Man if I had kept the sets of my Queen that I used to have! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Don't go too hard on yourself, that "perfectionist ruin all the fun" comment was a joke really.

Yeah I have lots of Moby's albums including 18 (which I seem to have misplaced or else loaned to someone who has misplaced for me Rolling Eyes ). I didn't get Hotel yet. I heard a few of the songs on it a while ago but wasn't overly impressed. I'll give it a second chance and get a copy tomorrow since you recommend it Smile

Your Queen hmmm I wonder who that is???

next

1 - Well a man come on the 6 o'clock news, said sombody been shot, sombody been abused, somebody blew up a building somebody stole a car, somebody got away, somebody didnt get to far.

2 - You better watch what you say, you better watch what you do to me, dont get carried away, girl if you can do better then me, go.

3 - I call you on the telephone, my voice to rough from cigarettes, I sometimes feel i should just go home, but Im dealing with a memory that never forgets

4 - Tonight's the night we'll make history, as sure as dogs can fly, And I'll take any risk to tie back the hands of time, And stay with you here all night

5 - Once was a sweet thing baby, Held that love in our hands, But now I reach to kiss your lips, It just dont mean a thing

6 - You and I can see whats going wrong, We know we don't like it going wrong, Daughter can you have sons for yourself, Daughter can you have sons for yourself

7 - When popstars still remained a myth, And ignorance could still be bliss, And when God Save the Queen she turned a whiter shade of pale, When my mom and dad were in their teens, And anarchy was still a dream, And the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail

8 - If I could stick my hand in my heart, spill it all over the stage, Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya, Would you think the boy is strange? Ain't he strange?

9 - I feel my wings have broken in your hands, I feel the words unspoken inside, when they pull you under, and I would give you anything you want, no, you were all I wanted, all my dreams are fallin' down

10 - Oh, why you look so sad? Tears are in your eyes, Come on and come to me now. Don't be ashamed to cry, let me see you through, Cause I've seen the dark side too.
