oh btw is it "O mio babbino caro" I know Charltte Church does it, so does Renee Flemming.

Yep, Juliegirl's lyric is from an Aria from a Puccini opera, Aria is O Mio Babbino Caro (Oh my beloved father). Pudgy Church did it, Sarah Brightman did it, Sissel did it, etc, probably any soprano with classical voice training did or does it. I used to hear it on a regular basis during auditions in my yuhnger years. And everyone reading this is probably familiar at least with the tune ...

Not sure which opera, but it isn't La bohème or Madame Butterfly, probably his 2 most famous. Incidentally, Puccini is the composer. Porcini is the mushroom. Porcuna is a city in southern Spain where they grow olives. But Porcine is like me, cuz I am just a great big ol' HAWG after all that holiday eating and drinking. Shocked Mad

Now on to Esty's lil' challenge. Very Happy

Porkin'Man

p.s. Juliegirl, Nopoop, kudos for Boston. Its the second-best city in the whole USA (sorry, SF is numero uno) IMRO, and is really a fun and great town!

O.k. here is my list.

1. All an illusion. Only in my head you dont exist. Who are you fooling. Don't need a shrink but an exorcist

2. Fine fine, fine fine Acelandine be prepared for her. Tea tea, tea tea to make her free while incense burned.

3. Chimes sing sunday morn. Todays the day she's sworn. To steal what she never could own and race from this hole she calls home

4. I need you to show me the way from crazy. I wanna be so much more than this. With one hand high, you'll show them your progress. You'll take your time, but no one cares.

5. And when you ran to me, Your cheeks flushed with the night. We walked on frosted fields of juniper and lamplight...

6. The hostess is grinning, her guests sleep from sinning. Hear me talk of sin and you know this is it.

7. Dont be afraid to be weak. Don't be too proud to be strong. Just look into your heart my friend, that will be the return to yourself.

8. Daddy, can I go and hunt tonight, like you do on Sunday mornings. Honey, give me a real jungle knife... to feel, feel like taking my life

9. Oh what have I done, what happened to the morning. I passed the time away high again. I got to find a way to fill the space in time

10. I can sense it... Something important is about to happen... It's coming up. It takes courage to enjoy it. The hardcore and the gentle

Great set mi Eirrish amigo. I'm going after a few of the unclaimed ones, including the Madchester 2 even though I am a Liverpool fan. Cool

#1. James - Born of Frustration. Good horns in that song.

#3. Stone Roses - Waterfall (another GREAT Madchester group). People in the UK find it hard to believe that this group had no hits in the USA, and that many yanks haven't even heard of them. Or, many Americans HAVE heard of them, but can't name any of their songs, yadda yadda. But in 1989, Americans were too busy listening to another band with Roses in the name, GNR, along with Milli Vanilli, Madonna, Aerosmith, Janet Jackson, Tom Petty, Fine Young Cannibals, Tone Loc, Young MC, and Biz Markie. Then Nirvana and a few others came along ... thankfully ... and the world changed.

#6. I'm leaving this one for GNOME of course, he better see it. And if he does, watch out for your ankles if you claim this one, he'll be a-kickin'.

#7. Enigma -- I think its called "Return to Innocence", its that big hit from their 2nd/Cross album.

Don't really have a clue on the other leftovers, though #2 is on the tip of my tongue and is pissing me off. Sorry for ramblin' on so.

Oh, I forgot. "Thanks for your post." Laughing

#6 ....figures it's the only one I knew!

Strange Days
JDM y Los Puertos

Strange days have found us
Strange days have tracked us down
They're going to destroy
Our casual joys
We shall go on playing
Or find a new town

Yeah!

Strange eyes fill strange rooms
Voices will signal their tired end
The hostess is grinning
Her guests sleep from sinning
Hear me talk of sin
And you know this is it

Yeah!

Strange days have found us
And through their strange hours
We linger alone
Bodies confused
Memories misused
As we run from the day
To a strange night of stone

try these lyrics...

1.)

Everything is wrong since me and my baby parted
All day long I'm walkin' 'cause I couldn't get my car started...

2.)

When your prized possessions start to wear you down,
Look in my direction, I’ll be round, I’ll be round.

3.)

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, where have you been, my darling young one?

4.)

Thrown like a star in my vast sleep
I'm opening my eyes to take a peep...

5.)

I bless the day I found you
I want to stay around you...

6.)

I had to escape
The city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you...

7.)

Push the door, I'm home at last,
And I'm soaking through and through...

8.)

Whats with these homies dissing my girl?
Why do they gotta front?

9.)

You are the promised kiss of springtime
That makes the lonely winter seem long.

10.)

The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky...

ok nice one esteban

Julie girl if you wantn a crack at it then you have my blessing
get together about 10 song lyrics and see if you can stump the master, that being RM, esteban, nopoop, gnome and the list goes on.

but first you must answer this one.

If I could stick my pen in my heart,
I would spill it all over the stage.
Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya,
Would you think the boy is strange?
Ain't he strange?

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Houston, we've got a problem. Good set Juliegirl, but some of the ones that are left are old and have been covered by everyone and their brother, including Gnome and his band (The Gnomettes), so am not sure who did them first!

Unlike SD I'm a bit more selfish and will claim more than just 2, but will still leave a few for the rest of ya...

#1. Come On -- Chuck Berry. Covered most famously by the ferkin' Rolling Stones (whom I dislike except for 2 songs).

#5. Let It Be Me -- No idea who wrote it, but its a old love song and I think everyone has covered it from Carly Simon to Bruce Springsteen, including Mr. Presley and Mr. Dylan. Not to be confused with the song of the same name from one of my favorite groups, the Indigo Girls. Very Happy

#7. Thank You - Dido. No, repeat, NO chick-rock makes it past me (thumps chest in an arrogant bastardly way). JK, I ain't all that.

#9. All The Things You Are -- This is an old song from the early 1940s (?) and the Big Band era. Not sure, but it may have been written by Tommy Dorsey? I know another famous cover of this was done by Frank Sinatra ... jack.

Please note that I am ONLY 40 -- same age as SD -- and I'm just a music hound, not some old fuddy-duddy. Laughing

(settles into rockin' chair)
(creak ... squeaky squeaky ... creak)
(storm's a comin', yep)

Dodderin'Man

p.s. good snag B-Bob-2, that's the song from the "Happy Days" music video! Cool Nice to see some new blood in here.
